Mathematics and Statistics Minor
Mathematics or statistics are used in every quantitative discipline. If you would like to get or expand exposure to mathematics or statistics, consider one of these minors in the fields of mathematics or statistics.
Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data requires strong theoretical backgrounds in mathematics and statistics, as well as hands-on analytical and technical skills. This minor gives students from a wide variety of majors coursework that will help them become effective data analysts.
Total hours: 22-23
Required courses:
- MAT 250 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I
- STA 265 Methods of Statistics and Data Science
- STA 465 Applied Statistics I
and at least one of (the latter is highly recommended)
- STA 135 Introduction to Probability and Statistics I
- STA 253 Introduction to Probability and Statistics II
plus at least two courses from the list
- MAT 308 Calculus and Analytic Geometry II
- MAT 455 Probability in the Actuarial Sciences
- STA 430 Explorations in Statistics
