The Ross Mathematical Studies and Career Center

The Ross Center has been made possible through a generous gift by Jesse D. Jones (graduated Murray State in 1963 with degrees in mathematics and chemistry) and is named in memory of his maternal grandmother, Hattie Mayme Ross. The Hattie Mayme Ross Mathematical Studies and Career Center (Faculty Hall 109) serves to foster interaction among all students interested in mathematics or statistics. The inviting space features couches, desk space and ample whiteboards for homework discussion. Computer workstations with printing capabilities (with nominal cost) are also available.

The center is staffed with knowledgeable students who can answer questions related to your mathematics or statistics coursework. The schedule for particular classes is below.

About Hattie Mayme Ross

Hattie Mayme Ross was truly a woman ahead of her time. A native of Marshall County, Kentucky, she ran a tailoring business from her rural home in order to support her family. She touched many lives with her talents and her ability to make attractive clothing, particularly for special occasions such as proms, dances and weddings.

Hattie Mayme's grandson, Jesse D. Jones, said of his beloved grandmother: "Her display of self鈥搑eliance was an example to me, as well as others. She proved that with a positive attitude and willingness to put forth effort we can accomplish many things. My grandmother was a remarkable woman and I am honored to name this study center in her memory."
