Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP)
As an enlisted Guard or Reserve Soldier who is interested in becoming an officer in the United States Army, you are afforded the opportunity to participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP). A Cadet in the SMP is an officer trainee who is attending college and a member of the Army Reserve or the National Guard at the same time. As an SMP cadet, you gain valuable training opportunities outside the ROTC program. While you are an SMP cadet, you receive guard or reserve benefits alongside your ROTC benefits. Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) Scholarships may be available to qualified Cadets.
Benefits may include:
- Sergeant (E-5) pay: about 256 dollars for a two day drill weekend
- Kentucky State Tuition Assistance
- Montgomery GI bill is available to those who meet the requirements to claim
- ROTC GRFD Scholarship
- Book Stipend: 600 dollars per semester
- $6,000 room and board option OR full tuition and fees
