Ed.S. to Ed.D. Bridge Program

The Ed.S. to Ed.D. bridge program is designed for individuals who hold an Ed.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution and who are interested in pursuing a terminal degree.

Up to 30 credit hours can be transferred into the Ed.D. program based on a review of the Ed.S. transcript by program faculty.

  • Up to 18 credit hours can be applied toward the specialization area,
  • up to six hours can be applied toward the Clinical Experience courses, and
  • up to six hours can be applied toward research courses (Quantitative and Qualitative).

If there are courses from the Ed.S. that do not directly transfer, additional institutional credit could be awarded via Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).

If the full 30 hours of credit is transferred, students can complete the Ed.D. in two years.

Prior Learning Assessment

Prior experience and training may be considered for course credit, on a case-by-case basis, by the Ed.D. program director. In such instances, students will be required to submit supporting documentation (e.g. a professional portfolio) for review. This method particularly applies to the clinical experience courses, ADM 900 and ADM 910, but may be considered for other courses under special circumstances.
