Promoting Excellence in Teaching

The mission of the Teacher Quality Institute is to support the development and enhancement of pedagogy and content knowledge of teachers in °ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û’s service region through recruiting potential teachers, providing professional development opportunities, and structuring high quality preservice experiences. TQI offers programming for both pre-service and in-service educators that support professional growth as an educator. The professional team of the Teacher Quality Institute works to achieve the mission by providing:

 Pre-service Teacher Support

• Implementing the Professional Development School Model 
• facilitating a dual-credit teacher education program for regional high school students through Racer Academy
• hosting annual Educators Rising conference for high schools
• providing scholarships for teachers and students
• supervising clinical practice work in secondary schools
• coordinating Student Success Center
• providing both group and individual Praxis tutoring for the students of COEHS

In-Service Teacher Support

• Leading Professional Development sessions at the request of school administrators
• Providing additional professional development through the annual Teaching and Technology Summit
• Facilitates the Supporting Excellence in Teaching program for first year teachers
